What Is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Today, we're going to define the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and list a brief introduction about services that offers.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a comprehensive platform that include more than 150 cloud services available to the customers to benefit from them, it help to build application and systems in a good efficient/flexible way offering high availability with a lower cost compared to its competitors. 

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offer cloud services that are available in different locations while complying with the regulation and compliance defined by governments.

You can use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure cloud services in Oracle regions that is available for customers, more than that we can use database services using multi-cloud approach running them inside other cloud providers in Exadata hardware, finally we can use the services in on-premise network in the data center to meet the company regulations and requirements.

With Oracle OCI, you can use cloud services as public cloud using those services to create applications, or multi-cloud approach using services from different cloud providers interconnected to solve your business need, other case is to use the hybrid cloud approach which is also possible connecting the OCI services with your on-premise network services, including the case of using Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer which is a highly optimized database as a service that can be located in the customer site, or simply using the public services in your own data center as a dedicated cloud.

To summarize the paragraph above, in brief we have 4 type of distributed cloud which are public cloud or cloud regions (commercial or government regions), multi-cloud, Cloud@Customer or dedicated region or dedicated cloud.

The Oracle OCI have many service that we can categorize them in the 7 categories which is listed below:

  5. Analytics
  6. Developer Services
  7. Governance & Administration
